Classroom expectations & Guidelines
8th grade U.S. History
Mrs. Clinton (ESL Teacher)
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
- 1 subject notebook (to leave in the classroom)
- Folder/binder
- Writing utensils – pencils & pens (any color)
- Headphones
- OPTIONAL, but useful: colored pencils/markers
CLASSSROOM EXPECTATIONS
- Be on time
- Bring all of your materials
- Sit in your assigned seat by the time the bell rings
- Do not have your laptop out or listen to music unless given permission
- No cell phones out unless given permission
- Be respectful… always!!! To me and your peers!
- ABSENCES: if you are absent from class, check Canvas or email me to see what you have missed. You have an extra day to get homework done but you are still expected to contact me for any information you missed from class
DAILY ROUTINE
- WHEN BELL RINGS be in your seats, get out notebooks, write down the date
- Answer the bell ringer (if there is one)
- Write down today’s learning target
- THE LAST 5 MINUTES OF CLASS – write 1 paragraph if you met the learning target, how, why/why not
GRADING/LATE WORK POLICY
- No deductions for late work, HOWEVER, there will be an accountability grade (15% of total semester grade) that will get points deducted for every late assignment (You will start with 100/100, but 5 points will get deducted every late assignment)
- Assessments will be marked “missing” in the grade book, resulting in 0% until they are turned in.
- If you turn in any late work online, YOU MUST SEND ME AN EMAIL so I know it’s been submitted
TESTS/PROJECTS
At the end of every unit we will do either a test or a project as a formative assessment to see what you have learned
- Test corrections can be made on all incorrect answers for ½ a point each by doing the following: writing/typing the question, writing/typing the correct answer, and citing where you found the correct answer (notes, book, video, etc.)
- Most projects can be completed alone or with a partner, and have at least 2 options of projects to choose from
